Guide
A short guide to moving around the garden and the places you can visit.
Moving
- Tap the ground to walk there. Drag to look around. Pinch or scroll to zoom.
- On a phone, the joystick at the bottom left also walks.
- Places opens a small map. Tap a dot or a name to go there.
- Wooden signs at the crossings point to nearby places. The Pilgrim loop in Places takes you round twelve stops, one at a time.
Places
- Front gate: where you arrive.
- Lantern pond: set a paper lantern on the water.
- Main hall: sit on the mats facing the statue; make an offering.
- Nine-storey pagoda: walk around it three times at a slow pace.
- Bell pavilion: ring the large bell, alone or together.
- Tea house: sit at a low table over a virtual tea or meal (nothing is sold).
- Rock cave: a candle-lit cave with a small spring; quiet sitting.
- Quiet rooms and Moon pavilion: smaller and larger places to sit with others.
- Spiral garden: walk slowly to the centre.
- Lakeside walk and Lookout: open views, birds and boats on the water.
- My room: your own room to arrange.
Practices
- Meditate: choose 1, 3 or 5 minutes; a soft guide shows breathing in and out.
- Mala: move one bead at a time; 108 beads make a full round.
- Moktak: tap once, five or ten times.
- Bowing: standing or kneeling bows in a shared, slow rhythm.
- Stretch: four gentle movements.
Move only within your comfort and stop whenever you like. If you have a health concern, talk to a qualified health professional.
Etiquette
The garden is for everyone. Move gently, give others space on the cushions, and keep the bell for its moment.
Settings
Under ⋯ you can change the time of day, the weather, graphics (choose Light on older phones), sound and language. If your device asks for reduced motion, the garden moves less.
