Privacy policy

Bellripple (“we”) is a free website operated from Sydney, Australia. We aim to collect as little as possible. This policy explains what happens to information when you use bellripple.com.

1. No account

You do not create an account or give us your name, email address or phone number to use the garden. We do not use your location.

2. Kept only on your device

The site uses your browser's local storage to remember your choices on this device: language, sound and graphics settings, your look and clothes, your room arrangement, simple counts (days visited, minutes sat, bows, mala rounds), offerings and the private note on a wish tablet. This stays in your browser. We do not receive it. You can delete it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

3. Shared garden sessions

While you are in the garden, your browser connects to a shared room so that visitors can see each other. For as long as you are connected, the room holds and passes to other visitors in the same room: a random garden name (chosen from a fixed list), a code for your look and clothes, your position and pose in the garden, and gestures such as a bow or ringing the bell. This is not written to any database and is gone when you leave. The site keeps only daily totals for each room (how many people joined and the most there at once): numbers only, with nothing about who. There is no chat, and your wish-tablet note is never sent.

4. Hosting and technical data

The site is delivered by Cloudflare, Inc. To deliver pages and protect the service, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and request times. See Cloudflare's privacy policy. This processing may take place outside Australia.

5. Other services the page loads

The garden loads program code and sky images from jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net) and fonts from Google Fonts. When your browser fetches these files, those providers receive your IP address and browser information. See the jsDelivr and Google privacy policies.

6. Cookies, analytics and advertising

We do not set cookies. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits (pages viewed, country, device type and the site you came from) without cookies and without identifying you. There is no advertising at present. If we add advertising or anything else that uses cookies or personal information, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent.

7. Children

Bellripple is a general audience site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your choices and questions

You can use the garden without sound or shared sessions turned on, and you can clear the site's data at any time. For any privacy question or complaint, email bellripplegarden@gmail.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
